The Bottom Line Keri D. Ingraham & Bryan Mistele Discuss Recent Victories & Advancements in K-12 Education

This week, Discovery Institute’s American Center for Transforming Education hosted a special event on Mercer Island, Washington.

The evening began with remarks by Discovery Institute President Steve Buri. Then, longtime Discovery Institute Board member Bryan Mistele interviewed Senior Fellow and American Center for Transforming Education Director Keri D. Ingraham.

Mistele, a gifted communicator, kicked off the questions by asking Ingraham to share how she became interested in education, her professional journey, and what brought her to Discovery Institute five years ago. Next, the work of the American Center for Transforming Education was discussed. Exciting updates were provided regarding the advancement of education freedom, education entrepreneurship, education innovation, parental rights, and public education reform.

The inspiring event left attendees energized and optimistic about the growing movement to transform education and expand education freedom and innovation for students across America.

As the conversation continued, topics such as the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education, the first-in-history federal tax credit scholarship provision, and artificial intelligence education were covered. Time was also spent discussing rapidly growing school models, including classical education and microschools, as well as the opportunity to create industry-specific high schools.

As the interview drew to a close, Mistele asked Ingraham a final question, to which she responded with a hopeful outlook for the future and a call to action. Referencing the words of President Ronald Reagan, Ingraham stated that everyone has an important role to play in the preservation of freedom within their spheres of influence.

Following the main stage portion of the evening, guests enjoyed dessert and a time of networking and socializing. Event Coordinator Serianna Anderson planned and executed the stellar event from start to finish, with key contributions from Discovery Institute’s Erik Nutley, Emily Reeves, and Kate Kavanaugh.

One guest remarked that the evening was “amazingly interesting and exciting,” while another noted it was “outstanding!” The inspiring event left attendees energized and optimistic about the growing movement to transform education and expand education freedom and innovation for students across America.
