Discovery Institute’s American Center for Transforming Education has gained increasing national attention with our unique two-prong approach. We work to transform public education while also empowering parents with the freedom to select the K-12 educational avenue for their children.

The prolonged COVID public school shutdowns exposed parents to the misplaced priorities of the teachers unions and also gave parents, through online remote learning sessions, a first-hand view of the dearth of high-quality academic learning provided by those schools. Their heightened concerns increased their engagement in the system and led to a surge in support of school choice among the general public.

Advancing universal school choice in states will reduce teachers unions’ power and lay the groundwork for public education system-level transformation.

Two years ago, the hope of providing all families within a state with funding to select the education avenues that would best serve their children was considered nearly unimaginable. Yet today, ten states have signed universal or near-universal school choice into law.

A contribution of any amount to the American Center for Transforming Education will allow us to increase our work on behalf of children, families, communities, and ultimately our country at a time when more and more Americans are yearning for educational freedom and an overhaul of public education.
