God & Science in Cambridge

20th Annual Insiders Briefing on Intelligent Design

Charles Darwin. Watson and Crick. Stephen Hawking. C.S. Lewis. Some of the greatest figures of science and culture have called Cambridge, England their academic home. Join Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in August 2024 for an exclusive private tour and conference exploring the history and future of science, faith, and intelligent design.

Each morning, you will hear from renowned speakers about the history of faith and science and how discoveries in Cambridge have provided powerful evidence that nature is the result of intelligent design. Each afternoon, you will get to visit the world-class museums, colleges, and other historic sites of Cambridge. As a group, we will journey to the 941-year-old Ely Cathedral for Evensong and a concert, tour historic Cambridge by going “punting on the Cam,” experience a Shakespeare play in a college garden, and banquet in the magnificent neo-gothic hall of world-famous King’s College.

Our home base will be the elegant University Arms, “Cambridge’s leading luxury hotel since 1834.” The hotel combines classic Edwardian interiors with leather-padded writing desks, low ottomans, and tiered chandeliers in rooms full of natural light. Relax in the spa or over traditional afternoon tea. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

FEATURED SPEAKERS INCLUDE: John Lennox, David Berlinski, Stephen Meyer, Stuart Burgess, Günter Bechly, and John West

TRANSPORTATION

FLIGHTS FROM THE US: The recommended arrival airport is London Heathrow (LHR), which is approximately 70 miles (112 kilometers) from Cambridge. We suggest that you arrive on August 17, 2024 and depart on August 23, 2024.

FLIGHTS FROM EUROPE: If you are flying from within Europe, the closest airport is London Stansted, which is approximately 42 miles (68 kilometers) from Cambridge. But many international flights may go to London Heathrow.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION: We recommend that you use hired cars or shuttles, trains, or other public transportation to get from the airport to Cambridge. We do not recommend that you rent a car unless you are comfortable driving in the UK and need a vehicle to get elsewhere before/after the conference. We have arranged transportation to the Ely Cathedral and all other events are within a .5 to 1 mile walk of our hotel. There is no parking at our hotel but there is parking within walking distance.

If you are looking for suggestions about transportation between London Heathrow (or other regional airports) and the hotel, we would recommend looking into the platform Omio, which lets you compare bus and train options: omio.com.

If you’re flying into Heathrow, you could also look at their website (heathrow.com) to find links to transportation options. According to their website, they recommend these three methods:
