YouTube Premiere of “Long Story Short” Episode on the Origin of Life — Part 2: Polymerization

It’s finally here — part 2 of Long Story Short’s Origin of Life series! In this upcoming episode, the extraordinary process of polymerization will be exposed for what it really is — an incredibly complex system indispensable to all life. What explanations have been offered from a Darwinian framework regarding the origin of this process? Have they missed some crucial details that, perhaps, would instead lead us to conclusions of design?

We’re often told that origin of life experiments have simulated the production of life’s building blocks under conditions that mimicked the early earth. Or at least, that’s what many textbooks say. But is this really true? This video deals with one particular challenge to the evolution of life from chemicals — the challenge of creating biopolymers. Watch this video to appreciate how origin of life experiments don’t come anywhere close to accounting for the vast complexity of biology. This is the second of several episodes about the origin of life presented as part of the Long Story Short series.

Episode 5, “Challenge to Origin of Life: Biopolymers” will premiere on YouTube on Tuesday, November 30th, at 6 PM PT (9 PM ET). It’s just a little over 10 minutes long. You can participate in a live discussion with other viewers, including Dr. Casey Luskin, Associate Director of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science & Culture. Join us to learn, laugh, and discuss!

Is this your first time hearing of the video series? Long Story Short has already had major success in animating complex evolutionary conundrums for a lay audience in areas such as homology, whale evolution, antibiotic resistance, and the basic building blocks of a cell. Clever, humorous, substantive, and brief, Long Story Short now turns its attention to the origin of life — a most uncomfortable riddle for proponents of materialism.
