Why Marriage Matters

Family structure matters for the economic, educational and emotional well-being of American children

Please join us Tuesday, August 4th, at noon PT for a webinar featuring Dr. Brad Wilcox, Director of the National Marriage Project. Discovery Institute’s Christopher F. Rufo will interview Wilcox about the role of marriage in free enterprise, wealth accumulation, and happiness.

Wilcox is an associate professor in the department of sociology at the University of Virginia, where he directs the National Marriage Project. His research has focused on marriage, fatherhood, and cohabitation, especially on the ways that family structure, civil society, and culture influence the quality and stability of family life in the United States and around the globe. Now, Dr. Wilcox is exploring the contribution that families make to the economic welfare of individuals and societies.

Dr. Wilcox is the author of When Marriage Disappears: The Retreat from Marriage in Middle America and Soft Patriarchs, New Men: How Christianity Shapes Fathers and Husbands.
