Lynne Cheney tells Seattle the Truth

“The idea that truth is something to be invented rather than pursued,” Lynne Cheney writes in her new book Telling the Truth, “has passed beyond narrow academic circles to influence many fields of endeavor” including: education, historical writing, journalism, psychology and even politics.

Cheney, former Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities, will speak about the importance of truth and what we can do restore it, at a Seattle luncheon sponsored by CityClub and Discovery Institute.

Cheney’s book, subtitled Why Our Culture and Our Country Have Stopped Making Sense-and What We Can Do About It, is elevating the level of debate about truth and society all over the nation.

“Some of us think of Lynne Cheney as a highly decorated veteran-many ribbons for heroic service, and some purple hearts-of the culture wars,” said columnist George Will. “This book is a vivid report from the war’s many fronts.”

If you’d like to hear Cheney’s thoughts on Telling the Truth, call (206) 682-7395 for information and to reserve your seat. The luncheon is Thursday, November 16, 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. at the downtown Seattle Sheraton Hotel and the cost is $25.
