John West to Speak on the Bible and the Rise of Science at Conference in Tacoma, WA

Dr. John West will be giving a talk entitled “Let There Be Light: The Bible’s Influence on the Creation and Perpetuation of Modern ​Science” at the upcoming “Post Tenebras Lux” conference in Tacoma, WA. The event explores the relationship between Christianity and culture. Dr. West is vice president of Discovery Institute and managing director of its Center for Science and Culture, which he co-founded with philosopher Stephen Meyer in 1996.

Other speakers at the event will include renowned Christian thinker and writer Vishal Mangalwadi and historian Dr. Glenn Sunshine. 

Mangalwadi is an Indian social reformer, political columnist, and philosopher who was mentored by Francis Schaeffer. Mangalwadi’s many books include The Book that Made Your World: How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization; This Book Changed Everything: The Bible’s Amazing Impact on Our World; Truth and Transformation: A Manifesto for Ailing Nations; The Father of Modern India: William Carey, and India: The Grand Experiment.  His works have been praised by Dallas Willard, Charles Colson, and Marvin Olasky, among others.

Dr. Sunshine is a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview and author of Why You Think the Way You Do, 32 Christians Who Changed Their World, The Image of God, and Slaying Leviathan. He holds a PhD in Renaissance and Reformation History, and he is a former professor at Central Connecticut State University.

The “Post Tenebras Lux” conference takes place at Evangelical Reformed Church in Tacoma, WA starting on Friday evening, Nov. 1 and concluding on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 2.
