A Symposium on the Catholic Case for Intelligent Design
On October 18–19, the Cleveland Lyceum will host a symposium on “God’s Grandeur: the Catholic Case for Intelligent Design” featuring Discovery Institute speakers Brian Miller and John West. The conference will be hosted in historic Brecksville, Ohio at St. Joseph’s Byzantine Catholic Church.
Before the symposium begins on Friday, high school students will have the opportunity to hear from Brian Miller, John West, and Logan Gage on “What is Intelligent Design?,” “Cultural Consequences of Rejecting Intelligent Design,” and “Intelligent Design and St. Thomas Aquinas,” respectively. Student tickets are available to purchase for this part of the event.
The symposium itself will take place Friday evening through Saturday evening. Brian Miller, Senior Fellow at the Center for Science & Culture, will present on “The Intelligent Design of the Universe” and “The Intelligent Design of Life.” John West, Vice President of Discovery Institute, will present “The Bible, Intelligent Design, and the Rise of Modern Science” and “Darwin’s Corrosive Idea — the Cultural Consequences of Rejecting Intelligent Design.” Attendees will also hear from Logan Gage, Fr. Martin Hilbert, and Randy Malick on “Evolution and Original Sin,” “Aquinas and Intelligent Design,” and C.S. Lewis.
We hope you can join (or invite a friend to) this opportunity to explore intelligent design from a Catholic perspective and to hear presentations on a host of science and faith topics.
