Eerdmans has re-released (in paperback) Corbin Scott Carnell’s Bright Shadow of Reality: C. S. Lewis and the Feeling Intellect and re-titled it Bright Shadow of Reality: Spiritual Longing in C. S. Lewis. This was the first and best treatment of Lewis and sensucht.

Phillip Yancey’s latest book is The Bible Jesus Read (Zondervan, 1999). As part of his personal journey Yancey explores Job, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, and the Prophets. Once again Yancey offers honest, challenging questions and insights about the Bible, God, and life.

Roger Stronstad, Canadian C. S. Lewis Journal editor, has two new 1999 books. Zondervan’s Full Life Bible Commentary (with co-editor French L. Arrington) is the first one-volume New Testament commentary written by and for Pentecostals and moderate charismatic Christians. It uses the NIV but is appropriate with any version and appropriate for any Christians, not just Pentecostals.

In Stronstad’s forthcoming Prophethood of Believers: A Study in Luke’s Charismatic Theology (Sheffield Academic Press, 1999) Stronstad interprets the theology of the Holy Spirit in Luke and Acts. His related book The Charismatic Theology of St. Luke (Peabody: Hendrickson, 1984) is going into its sixth printing this fall and has been translated into its fourth language (Finnish, Chinese, Spanish, and now Indonesian).
