Two transcripts with audio excerpts follow. Different versions of this story, each featuring Cascadia Center's Bruce Agnew, aired on KOMO-AM 1000's news, hourly from 2:30 to 6:30 on Thursday, July 16.

Version A - .wav file

TRANSCRIPT

ANCHOR: "More than $7.6 million dollars in federal stimulus money is headed to ferries in our state and one of the projects getting that money will be new, experimental passenger-only service across the Sound."

TRAVIS MAYFIELD: "In the 90s, passenger ferries cruised between Bremerton and Seattle, but neighbors along the shore said they caused too much wake. The state stopped using the boats but now Kitsap Transit wants to try a new Bellingham-built boat with a low wake."

BRUCE AGNEW: "You'll be able to zip between Bremerton and Seattle far faster than in the auto ferries."

TRAVIS MAYFIELD: "Bruce Agnew of the Cascadia (Center) says other cities like Kingston and Port Townsend will be watching this six-month trial to see if it's a success and how it might work for them."

ANCHOR: "KOMO's Travis Mayfield says the new ferry could be built by next March, and trial could begin by next June."

VERSION B - .wav file

TRANSCRIPT

ANCHOR: "High speed passenger-only ferry service will be returning between Bremerton and Seattle, at least for a six-month trial. KOMO's Travis Mayfield explains."

TRAVIS MAYFIELD: "Yesterday, Senator Patty Murray showed some muscle, and the feds found the $7.6 million for ferry stimulus projects in Washington. Part of that money, we're learning today, will fund Kitsap Transit's plan to test a high speed low wake foot ferry between Bremerton and Seattle. The trial run could begin within a year. Bruce Agnew, with the Cascadia Center, says other communities are watching this experiment very closely."

BRUCE AGNEW: "...like Port Townsend and Kingston, that are looking at this experiment to see if they might be able to get connected to high-tech boats in the future.'

TRAVIS MAYFIELD: "Travis Mayfield, KOMO Newsradio."
