Is Iran Close to Revolt? A Student Dissident’s View

Discovery Institute is pleased to welcome Amir Abbas Fakhravar to Seattle. Mr. Fakhravar was Iran’s top student leader who was imprisoned and tortured in Iran before escaping and fleeing to the United States in May of this year. Mr. Fakhravar’s remarks will focus on the political climate in Iran, and on the broadening coalition of opposition groups including many led by Iranian students operating within the country. He argues that the general population in Iran is increasingly pro-American, due in part to the highly publicized rhetoric of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and that the country is ripe for democratic reform.
