Steven Schwarz is Director of Finance and Operations at Discovery Institute. He earned a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S in Finance. After earning his degree from Northern Illinois University, he went on to earn his CPA License.
Steve grew up in the Chicagoland area where he attended college and began his career. He has worked in a number of different industries for a variety of organizations. He is knowledgeable in accounting for private, corporate, not-for-profit, and government organizations. From 1992 to 2000, he worked in the banking industry as a credit analyst and commercial lender. After analyzing other company’s financial statements and providing commercial loans to businesses, he started his own concrete business and provided concrete solutions to the suburbs of Chicago. In 2006, he sold his business and started providing accounting consulting services to businesses in Chicagoland. In 2008, he began working at two not-for-profit organizations as their senior accountant: Walk in the Word and Harvest Bible Chapel.
After seven years of serving at these not-for-profit organizations, Steve decided to move to Wenatchee, Washington to be closer to family. He started his new venture as Finance Director for a privately owned business in Wenatchee and when the opportunity arose, he became the Business Manager for the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.
