Chapman’s News & Ideas Meet the 2019 Class of Chapman Fellows!

We are pleased to announce our 2019 Chapman Fellows:

Savannah Bice – Finance Rotational Analyst, Microsoft (finance rotation program); extensive world travel; BS,  Economics and Finance, Lindenwood University (active in DECA), St. Louis 

Jon Cantalini – Interim Executive Director, King County Republican Party; field coordinator, Dino Rossi for Congress, 2016; BA, Seattle University; former intern for Republican Attorneys General Association

Jessie Gamble – Government Affairs Director, Master Builders Association of Pierce County; former president, UW College Republicans; Republican PCO in Carbonado

Ryan Jewell – Brokerage Manager, Guardian Life; former insurance district sales manager; SPU alumnus (business and marketing major); interested in running for office in the future

Jake Mayson – Legislative Assistant, Carney Badley Spellman LLC lobbying; former legislative assistant to State Senator Sharon Brown; campaign manager for Rep. Chad Magendanz, 2016; BA in Political Science, WSU 

Koshin Mohamed – Former U.S. Army combat engineer with service in Iraq and Afghanistan; former special assistant to President of Federal Somalia Government; community activist

Zac Nix – Inventory Control Specialist, Costco; United Way Ambassador; Youth Group leader, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Puyallup; former candidate for state legislature

Jack Pickett – UW junior (political science and Spanish major); UW College Republicans president; deputy campaign manager, Susan Hutchison for U.S. Senate, 2018; former intern for Congressman Dan Newhouse; aspiring trial lawyer

Bailey Takacs – Program Coordinator for Discovery Institute’s American Center for Transforming Education; Former Campaign Manager for State Representative Paul Graves; BA in Politics & Government, Pacific Lutheran University

Jerin Tilson – Civil Engineer, Eastside Consultants, Inc.; BS and MS in Civil Engineering, WSU; interested in local government/local planning

Daphne White-Hall – Legislative Assistant to Rep. Drew Stokesbary with other previous legislative staff positions; former communications manager and shipping manager, NATO; former executive assistant and project assistant, The Hague, Netherlands; Wenatchee Valley College grad

David Yanez – Seattle University sophomore (Economics and Philosophy, Honors Program); vice president, WPC Young Professionals; officer, Seattle University Conservative Union; former WPC intern; ISI member

This is our eighth class of Chapman Fellows, and we now have over 100 alumni. The 11 fellows in this year’s class represent an impressive and diverse array of backgrounds, professions, and interests. As they spend time together sharing ideas, discussing readings, and learning from top Northwest civic leaders, they will build new friendships and become better prepared for leadership in our respective communities.

Discovery Institute

Discovery Institute promotes thoughtful analysis and effective action on local, regional, national and international issues. The Institute is home to an inter-disciplinary community of scholars and policy advocates dedicated to the reinvigoration of traditional Western principles and institutions and the worldview from which they issued.
