6th Annual Chapman Center for Citizen Leadership Benefit Luncheon

We invite you to join friends and supporters of Discovery Institute at 12 PM on Wednesday, November 6 for the 6th annual luncheon to benefit Discovery Institute’s Chapman Center for Citizen Leadership. The luncheon will feature a keynote by author, futurist, and publisher of Forbes magazine Rich Karlgaard.

An entrepreneur-turned-publisher, Rich Karlgaard offers a unique vantage point on the trends driving the business and investment climates. His insights help audiences see the global marketplace with new eyes. Karlgaard is the publisher of Forbes magazine, where he also writes a biweekly column, Innovation Rules, known for its witty and honest assessment of technology trends and current business issues. He is a regular panelist on cable news and is a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal’s op-ed page.

Rich is also the author of the new book Late Bloomers: The Power of Patience in a World Obsessed with Early Achievement. At a time where young people are fixated with perfect test scores and being on a fast track to success by their twenties, “late bloomers” are often undervalued. Whether due to a lack of motivation or just needing a little guidance, Rich will offer insight into why many people don’t realize their full potential until later in life.

The Chapman Center for Citizen Leadership enables young leaders to consider the foundational ideas of leadership in a free society by connecting them with mentors and fellow young leaders through seminars, lectures, and fellowship programs. Our goal is to develop the next generation of public and private sector leaders, in the spirit of collegiality and non-partisan cooperation. Led by Washington State Senator Hans Zeiger, the program is designed to mentor young leaders in the fields of business, politics, law, education, media, the arts, and religion who want to be involved in a lifetime of service to their communities. The Chapman Center hosts public events throughout the year, and the Chapman Fellowship for a select group of young professionals chosen through an application process.
