Ingraham Receives Presidential Commission Appointment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Donald Trump has appointed Discovery Institute Senior Fellow and American Center for Transforming Education Director Keri D. Ingraham to serve on the Commission on Presidential Scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Presidential appointment is a significant honor and recognizes Ingraham\u2019s leadership and contributions to education throughout the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As noted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/grants-and-programs\/recognition-programs\/us-presidential-scholars-program\/commission-presidential-scholars\">U.S. Department of Education website<\/a>, \u201cThe Commission on Presidential Scholars is a group of eminent private citizens appointed by the President to select and honor the Presidential Scholars. Commissioners are selected from across the country, representing the fields of education, medicine, law, social services, business, and other professions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Established by Presidential executive order in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes some of the nation\u2019s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, up to 161 students are named U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the nation\u2019s highest honors for high school students. Commissioners are entrusted with making the final selection of the U.S. Presidential Scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cThe Commission on Presidential Scholars is a group of eminent private citizens appointed by the President to select and honor the Presidential Scholars. Commissioners are selected from across the country, representing the fields of education, medicine, law, social services, business, and other professions.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am deeply honored and grateful to President Trump for this appointment and the opportunity to serve our country in this meaningful capacity,\u201d said Ingraham. \u201cRecognizing outstanding young Americans who demonstrate excellence, leadership, service, and tremendous promise for the future is an extraordinary privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ingraham brings more than two decades of experience in education to the Commission. Before joining Discovery Institute, she served as a school leader, administrator, classroom teacher, athletic coach, and national education consultant. Today, through her leadership of the American Center for Transforming Education, she works nationally to advance education freedom, innovation, parental empowerment, and education models that better prepare students to live, work, and thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ingraham\u2019s appointment comes amid her increasing engagement with national and state leaders on education policy. The President and First Lady have invited her to the White House multiple times, where she has attended education roundtables, a task force meeting, a signing ceremony, and special celebrations.
