Shared Rides, Shared Opportunities

ACES Northwest Network Seminar Series

ACES Northwest Network members, partners, and friends are teaming up to share the story of shared rides and shared opportunities at our third quarterly event in the ACES Northwest Network Seminar Series. The shared-rides revolution reflects how communications and logistics advancements have changed how people connect and move. The way we move about in the Pacific Northwest was likewise dramatically affected by the global crisis in 2020 and our collaborators in shared-ride services are prepared to share the story of how they responded to the upheaval while continuing to support public transit connections and essential mobility needs.

The constellation of diverse mobility services that exists today is the foundation of connections to high-capacity public transit in the future, providing the flexibility demanded by a changing landscape in mobility and transportation infrastructure funding and development. The return of crippling roadway congestion portends a new world where flexible schedules and flexible workplaces have already created new travel patterns that challenge old ways of thinking and the limits of conventional approaches. Despite these challenges, we are confident that the marketplace of mobility will find a way to satisfy all these emerging needs and more.

Panel Discussion: Synergies for Success Local Perspective: King County Metro and Connections in Bellevue and Beyond
Featuring Via Mobility
New synergies are connecting ride-hailing customers with the largest shared-ride services in the region, publicly-funded transit agencies.  Public transit agencies around the globe have recognized that new business models will lead to a sustainable future and support ridership growth where shared-ride services of all types serve as critical links for urban and suburban public transit services, including new light rail lines opening in our region in the coming years.  Existing and new partnerships in the Pacific Northwest will help public transit recover lost ridership.  The presentation by Via Mobility will be followed by an opportunity for audience interaction.

Synergies for Success Global Perspective: Emerging Models, Protecting Drivers, and Engaging Public Transit Partners
Featuring Lyft
Shared-ride operators provide appealing mobility solutions that allow customers to support a broad network of thousands of drivers in the Pacific Northwest.  Maintaining driver independence provides choice for the people providing these critical mobility services.  Ride-hailing service providers have worked throughout the 2020-2021 crisis to engage drivers and provide new opportunities to promote flexibility and safety while also increasing opportunities globally for connections to public transit.   The continued focus on driver safety, security, and satisfaction will further drive customer satisfaction while providing flexible family-wage jobs that support and enhance the mobility experience.  The presentation by Lyft will be followed by an opportunity for audience interaction.

Virtual Shop Tour at Pacific Mobility Group
Featuring Greg Dronkert and Pacific Mobility Group
Join PMG’s Greg Dronkert for a first-hand look at how PMG converts internal combustion vehicles into clean energy EVs on Bainbridge Island.  This 10-minute tour will provide attendees an eyes-on experience in a working vehicle conversion facility with a look at the batteries, controllers, and electric motors that power the mobility of the future.  PMG is a Washington State Social Purpose Corporation and an ACES Northwest Network affiliate.  EV conversion providers help individuals and fleet operators eliminate the engine and embrace the EV for cost savings and operational benefits without sacrificing their existing investment in vehicles.

Panel Discussion:  Incredible Innovation
Featuring Pacific Mobility Group and GM Cruise
ACES Northwest Network member companies are leveraging cutting-edge technology to help our economy rebound, with new vehicle technologies and service models designed to provide what people want and need to be comfortable, safe, and ready to build back better.  From electric vehicles to employer shuttles, our region’s diverse mobility landscape is truly poised to innovate in shared rides and share opportunities for success, together.  Learn how innovation will address traffic congestion, emissions, and user satisfaction with all aspects of the mobility experience.

Innovation: Audience Interaction and Questions
Moderated by Scott O. Kuznicki
In-person and online attendees will be invited to join the queue for questions using a notecard on site or the Q&A feature on the Zoom webinar.  Questions submitted via the Zoom Q&A will be asked by the moderator.
