The C. S. Lewis Encyclopedia

The Lewis Legacy-Issue 77, Summer 1998 The C.S. Lewis Foundation for Truth in Publishing

In a surprise move, before publication Zondervan dropped the price of its 640-page hardcover C. S. Lewis Readers’ Encyclopedia from $29.95 to $22.95. (As a result, the book can be purchased from Christian Book Distributors for only $16.95 plus $3.50 postage. Orders 1-978-977-5000.) Although the name of John West, Jr., was left off preliminary publicity, he was full co-editor and produced the book with Jeffrey Schultz. Schultz brought to the project his experience as a reference book editor, and West brought extraordinary Lewis expertise. Together the two assembled a farflung team of contributors and made their book a reality. The book made its debute in June at a party celebrating its release, at the centennial C. S. Lewis conference held at Seattle Pacific University. About 360 people attended the highly successful conference.
