George Ralph, Lewis lover and Legacy subscriber, has died prematurely and unexpectedly. He will be sorely missed by many at Hope College in Holland MI, where he was a beloved professor of drama.

On 29 September 1997 Martin Marty received a National Humanities Award from President Clinton, who said that no one has done more than Marty to explore the nation’s spirituality, its faith, and the role of religion in the nation’s life.

Queen Elizabeth II’s 1998 New Year Honors list included renowned science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke. (His correspondence with Lewis is in the Bodleian.)

A Wheaton College theology conference, “Returning Theology to the Masses, A Reappraisal of C. S. Lewis,” will take place 16-18 April 1998. Speakers will include Charles Colson, Gilbert Meilaender, Mark Noll, and James I. Packer.
