C. S. Lewis Notecards

On 8 August 1933 the Lewis brothers visited St. Mark’s, their family church in Belfast, to see the triple window they had commissioned for their parents there. It depicts Saints Luke, James, and Mark.

To commemorate the 1899 baptism of C. S. Lewis by his grandfather, Thomas Hamilton, St, Mark’s is now offering beautiful notecards showing the colorful Lewis window. A note on the back of the card says “The C. S. Lewis Window, 29 January 1999 — Centenary of his Baptism.” The Lewis Legacy has purchased many copies to provide to readers at cost, plus postage. Send $1 for one card and envelope, $2 for three. Inquire if larger numbers are desired; these would make handsome Christmas or New Years cards.

On 15 March 1998 Rector Anthony Wilson wrote to your editor, “We are in the process of a restoration of the church building at a cost of over 1 million, and this very morning at 6 a.m. a giant crane brought down the cross from the top of the tower for repair and refurbishment, to be replaced next week.” Imagine how Thomas Hamilton would feel about his church and his grandson!
