The Lewis Legacy-Issue 69, Summer 1996 News and Views The C.S. Lewis Foundation for Truth in Publishing

Correction: According to the June issue of the Southern California C. S. Lewis Society Newsletter, the on-line address for the World of CSL is really http://www.cache.net/~john/ cslewis/index.html, not the one published there earlier. Newsletter editor Sam Konkin expects to launch two new sites soon.

Correction: In the spring 1996 issue, You Say Tomato, by Paul McCusker and Adrian Plass, was superficially characterised as humor. It is a series of brief, bright, jocular transatlantic letters between two fictional writers who struggle with perplexities and personal tragedy. It is published by HarperCollins in the UK. For copies contact author Paul McCusker at FAX 719.531.6911 or E-mail PMASKASKI@AOL.COM.

New: C. S. Lewis: Readings for Meditation and Reflection, edited by Walter Hooper (HarperSanFrancisco, 1996), 156 pages, $12. (First published as Daily Readings with C. S. Lewis [London: Fount, 1992].) About eighty brief excerpts from books by Lewis, with a nine-page preface by Walter Hooper. There is one error in Hooper’s preface: “In 1956 Lewis married her [Joy Gresham] in the Registry office to prevent her extradition.” Because of this new idea that Joy was in some kind of trouble with U.S. authorities, Lindskoog asked Douglas Gresham for his opinion. His answer appears on p. 18.

New: Screwtape Letters (Touchstone, Simon and Schuster) featues the bogus Lewis preface to “Screwtape Proposes a Toast.” $4.95.

Columbia C. S. Lewis Society in South Carolina offers a handsome brochure and monthly meetings. Contact Will Vaus, 17 Gidding Court, Irmo, SC 29063. Phone or FAX 803-749-3688. E-mail willvaus@aol.com,

Sigh. Once again, Hope Publishing has postponed Journey into Narnia, now scheduled for spring 1997 release — just when Lindskoog’s Inferno, her first work on Dante, is scheduled to come out elsewhere.
