Co-founder of
Stewardship Partners and Chairman of Dylan Bay Companies, Mr. Bayley has been active in the Seattle community for 45 years. He began his law career in 1966 as an associate attorney with
Lane, Powell, Moss & Miller, then worked under Attorney General Slade Gorton as the Deputy Attorney General and Chief, Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division. In 1970, Mr. Bayley was elected King County Prosecuting Attorney and served until 1979. He then became Partner in Charge of Public Finance at the
Perkins Coie law firm. In 1982, Mr. Bayley began a ten year corporate career, first as Senior Vice President, Law and Corporate Affairs at Burlington Northern Inc. and beginning in 1985 as President and CEO of Glacier Park Company, its real estate subsidiary. When the Burlington companies departed Seattle in 1992, he joined New Pacific Partners as Chairman. After an unsuccessful bid for United States Senate in 1998, Mr. Bayley and Steven Buri formed the Resource Action Council, which on January 1, 2002 became Stewardship Partners.
Mr. Bayley has served as a trustee of the
University of Puget Sound,
The Bush School,
The Seattle Foundation,
Corporate Council for the Arts (now ArtsFund),
The Nature Conservancy (state and national boards), and as a member of the Board of Overseers of
Harvard College. He is currently on the board of directors at Discovery Institute,
Classic KING-FM,
Scenic America, and the E.B. Dunn Historic Garden Trust, and is a trustee of
Sabre Foundation. He is a director of
Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC),
The Commerce Bank of Washington and
Cold Heat.
Mr. Bayley holds a bachelor's degree in history from
Harvard University and a doctorate in jurisprudence from
Harvard Law School.
