Gorton Lecture with Allen Hayward

Author, 'My Ride: The People, Procedures, and Politics of Lawmaking at our State Capitol'

This event is sponsored by Discovery Institute’s Chapman Center for Citizen Leadership and is part of our Gorton Lecture Series.

Join us as Allen Hayward gives a behind-the-scenes look at Olympia and shares his deep understanding of the political process, drawing from his 3+ decades as legal counsel to the Washington House of Representatives. In this upcoming Gorton Lecture, Allen Hayward will reveal insider secrets and share wit and wisdom from his career in Olympia.

Allen Hayward worked at the Washington State Capitol for 34 years, serving primarily as Senior Legal Counsel to the Republican Caucus in the House of Representatives. A constitutional lawyer, parliamentarian, and entertaining storyteller, he recently published his memoirs of his decades as legal advisor to Speakers of the House and top legislative leaders. Copies of Allen’s new book My Ride: The People, Procedures, and Politics of Lawmaking at our State Capitol, will be available for sale at the event.
