With over 45 years of public service experience, Sam Reed has served our state in many capacities, including most recently as our Secretary of State for the past 12 years. Known for his integrity, his commitment to giving back, and his dedication toward preserving tradition, Secretary Reed is known throughout Washington State for his action to save the Washington State Library and his responsibility with overseeing one of the closest governor’s races in history.

Recently, Secretary Reed published his book, A Survival Guide for Life in the Public Arena, which he uses to share his lessons with future generations. Praised for his devotion to civic engagement, Secretary Reed is sure to have a lesson or two for our audience. Join the Center for Civic Leadership as we host another lecture in our Gorton Series to bring you an evening with Sam Reed on the topic of his life in politics with tales from his new book.

State Representative Hans Zeiger will join us for the evening to interview Secretary Reed. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. This event is open to the public.

Although there is no cost, a $10 donation is suggested to support Discovery Institute’s Center for Civic Leadership. We appreciate your support and look forward to it as we continue to bring you more events like this. Parking is available on the street and at nearby garages.
