Why is Capitalism on the Defensive?

A Gorton Lecture Series Event with Scott S. Powell
Past Event February 12, 2013
Winston Churchill famously said that “democracy is the worst form of government…except for all the others.” A similar axiom can be applied to capitalism and free enterprise. Capitalism certainly isn’t perfect, but no other system of economics has come close to free enterprise in creating wealth and lifting people out of poverty.

>But if this is true, why is capitalism on the defensive? How is it being undermined, and why? And, finally, what are the requirements that enable the free market to prosper? Join Discovery Institute Senior Fellow Scott Powell as he addresses these questions. Mr. Powell has a distinguished background as an author, journalist and former scholar of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to hear from him, and to ask him your questions.
