Slade Gorton: A Half Century in Politics

A Book Event With Senator Slade Gorton

Discovery Institute is pleased to invite you to the launch of its new Center on Civic Leadership. The Center connects young leaders with experienced mentors and professionals in the fields of business, education, religion, media and public service. The goal of the center is to develop the next generation of public and private sector leaders, and to do so in the spirit of collegiality and non-partisan collaboration. The new center will host public events throughout the year (as part of its Gorton Lecture Series), and private quarterly events (the Discovery Leadership Roundtable) for a select group of young professionals chosen through an application process.

The inaugural event will honor Senator Slade Gorton, with a specific focus on leadership lessons drawn from his storied career in public policy. He will be joined by John Hughes, Chief Historian of the Washington State Legacy Project and author of the new biography, Slade Gorton: A Half Century in Politics. Though the center is tailored to students and young professionals, attendance at this kickoff event is open to anyone. You are invited to join us for the launch of the Center on Civic Leadership on Thursday, January 5th at 6 PM.

The event will be held at Discovery Institute, located at 208 Columbia Street in downtown Seattle. A selection of regional wines and cheeses will precede the event (suggested donation $10). Though we cannot validate, parking is available in the Millennium Tower Garage (719 2nd Avenue – entrance on Columbia). Should you choose to park elsewhere, please verify the garage hours as many of the adjacent parking lots in our neighborhood close at 6:00 pm. Our location is also metro accessible.
