CANCELLED - Early Catholic Critics of Darwinism
Chesterton, Belloc, and Mivart
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS. WE HOPE TO RESCHEDULE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
Amidst the broader debate over “theistic evolution,” many Catholics believe that Catholicism has no problem with Darwinism. But three Catholic contemporaries of Darwin would have strongly disagreed. Join us for an evening lecture with popular Canadian writer
Denyse O’Leary, author of
By Design or By Chance?, and co-author of
The Spiritual Brain, who will discuss what G.K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, and St. George Mivart had to say about Darwin’s theory. This lecture is based on her chapter in the forthcoming book,
God and Evolution: Protestants, Catholics, and Jews Explore Darwin’s Challenge to Faith.
The event will be held on
Thursday,
September 16, at
7:30 p.m., in
Otto Miller Hall,
Room 109, at
Seattle Pacific University, located at
3469 Third Avenue West,
Seattle,
Washington. Parking is available. For a map of the campus, please

The event is free and no RSVP is necessary. For more information or further questions, please contact Mollie Tschida at (206) 292-0401 x. 111 or email at
