In an emerging health care system - one in which new “breakthroughs” such as embryonic stem cell research and human cloning threaten the traditional understanding of what it means to be human - is there a place for doctors and other medical professionals who believe in the Hippocratic Oath and in never harming human life? The answer may be "no", unless we create legally enforceable conscience protections that would allow health care workers to refuse to participate in the taking of human life. Join Discovery Institute Senior Fellow Wesley J. Smith and Dr. Theresa Deisher, internationally renowned expert in the field of adult stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine, as they discuss why they think such “conscience clauses” are necessary and how they should be framed in a cultural polyglot society.

The event will be held at our Seattle headquarters, located at 208 Columbia Street in downtown Seattle, on Wednesday, October 27, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. A selection of regional wines and cheeses will precede the event. Though we cannot validate, parking is available in the Millennium Tower Garage (719 2nd Avenue - entrance on Columbia). Should you choose to park elsewhere, please verify the garage hours as many of the adjacent parking lots in our neighborhood close at 6:00 pm. Our new location is also metro accessible.
