The Student Response to Intelligent Design
November 16, 2005
Attempts to Ban Intelligent Design on University Campuses Fuel Student Interest in Debate Over Evolution

Students have an unquenchable need to question authority. But what happens when students are told they cannot question Neo-Darwinism? Featured speaker Casey Luskin, Program Officer with Public Policy & Legal Affairs in Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture, holds a B.S. and M.S. in Earth Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, and received his Law Degree from the University of San Diego.

Mr. Luskin has worked extensively with students to help start over 30 clubs on high school and college campuses to promote intelligent design. These "Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness (IDEA) Clubs" have seen tremendous popularity among students who seek to think thoughts typically banned from the science classroom. Students who have come "out of the closet" and expressed sympathy for intelligent design have encountered reactions ranging from curiosity to outright persecution.

Please join us on Wednesday, November 16, from 4:30 - 6 p.m. to learn how students have responded to the challenge of intelligent design, and how they have taken initiative to break through the walls of dogmatism on school campuses. The event will be held at Discovery Institute, located at 1511 Third Avenue, Suite 808, in downtown Seattle. The event is free and open to the public. To register, contact Janet Markwardt at janetm@discovery.org or call (206) 292-0401, ext. 111.
