Are science and faith at war? How did the universe begin? How did life start? How did complex living things arise?  Explore these questions and more on the first ever Science & Faith: Friends or Foes Cruise.

Join the Discovery Institute for this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about the beauty and design in nature while experiencing it first hand. This week long conference will take place on Holland America’s beautiful Westerdam ship, and will take participants from Seattle to Alaska, and back. Featured speakers will include Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, New York Times bestselling author of Darwin’s Doubt, and renowned Oxford University mathematician and author Dr. John Lennox, regarded by some as this generation's C.S. Lewis. More speakers will be announced in the near future.

STEPHEN C. MEYER received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in the philosophy of science after working previously as an oil industry geophysicist. He now directs the Center for Science and Culture at the Discovery Institute in Seattle, WA. He authored Signature in the Cell, a (London) Times Literary Supplement “Book of the Year” as well as Darwin's Doubt, a New York Times Bestseller.  Meyer has appeared on all of the top national television networks, major talk radio programs and NPR, as well major Christian media outlets. He has also been featured in two New York Times front-page stories.

JOHN LENNOX, Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University, is an internationally renowned speaker on the interface of science, philosophy and religion. He regularly teaches at many academic institutions including the Said Business School, Wycliffe Hall and the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, as well as also being a Senior Fellow with the Trinity Forum. He has written a series of books exploring the relationship between science and Christianity and he has also participated in a number of televised debates with some of the world’s leading atheist thinkers.

JOHN WEST is a Vice President and Senior Fellow at the Seattle-based Discovery Institute, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Institute's Center for Science & Culture. His current research examines the impact of science and “scientism” on public policy and culture. His other areas of expertise include constitutional law, American government and institutions, and religion and politics. Dr. West is author of Darwin Day in America and the editor of The Macician's Twin: C.S. Lewis and the Case Against Scientism.

PAUL NELSON is currently a Fellow of the Discovery Institute and Adjunct Professor in the Master of Arts Program in Science & Religion at Biola University. He is a philosopher of biology who has been involved in the intelligent design debate internationally for over two decades. His grandfather, Byron C. Nelson (1893-1972), a theologian and author, was an influential mid-20th century dissenter from Darwinian evolution. After Paul received his B.A. in philosophy with a minor in evolutionary biology from the University of Pittsburgh, he entered the University of Chicago, where he received his Ph.D. (1998) in the philosophy of biology and evolutionary theory.
